Emily and the Blog

Ok, Emily is thinking of starting a blog! Yeah!!! But she is trying to come up with a catchy name, so I thought I'd do a poll, to help her out, since I am not any good at giving her ideas myself, and we really need to get her going on this, before it gets this cold out again!

Avery's First Dance Class

Avery had her first dance class tonight. She was very excited to get her dancin shoes on, and she did really well following directions. There are only two other girls in her class so they got lots of good instruction from the teacher, and I got some great pictures thanks to the door into the studio.

Catching Up

The last few days have been spent preparing for school to start, meeting teachers, getting clothes ready, Cub Scout picnics, etc. etc. We are really looking forward to preschool, Kindergarten and First Grade this year. Crazy that they will all be in school at least part of the week. I would say that I don't know what I will do with myself, but seeing that I am seriously involved with volunteering at all of the schools, I'm sure I'll have plenty to keep me busy.

Saturday Scotts Dad came down to take a look at our ailing HVAC system, it has not been working all summer which has saved us a ton of money in that we haven't been able to run the AC all summer. Anyway, they figured out that somehow there was a switch inside the furnace that was flipped. Problem solved until we realized that it still wasn't blowing cold air. A quick recharge of the freon a couple of days later from Mom and Dad's neighbor and we are in business, of course now it is cool and we don't need to turn it on, oh well. The kids were excited to see Grandpa and got some good playtime in after the work was complete.

Oreos and the Mail

So it has been awhile, I realize since my last post, and there is no particular reason for it. We haven't been doing too much other than trying to get a few things organized for back to school, some work, watching too much of the Olympics, and the kids all coming down with strep for the second time this summer. :(

The kids have been hard at work of late working on letters... at work they were going to throw away a bunch of old stationery that didn't sell, and told all of us we could take it if we wanted, so I grabbed some and the kids have been mailing letters to each other for days. This picture is Kaleigh the cookie monster, working hard after an Oreo snack, she was too funny so hard at work and all that cookie all over her face.

In other news, Quinn found out who his teachers for first grade are going to be, yes he has two... they are a team I guess, two teachers that job share, and will also stay with them for first and second grades. We have yet to find out how it will all work, but he is excited I think, and there are already a couple kids in his class that he knows so that is good. Avery should find out today or tomorrow who her teacher is for Kindergarten, we are anxiously waiting for the mail to come to find that out.

Veggie Subs and Pirates with Ribbons

Quinn was the 3rd place winner in the Veggie Art contest at the festival in town this weekend. He created a submarine from Spaghetti Squash, Ginger Root, carrots and blueberries. He picked everything out on his own at a trip to the grocery store yesterday and put everything together. He had fun doing it, and thought it was pretty cool that he got a ribbon and certificate. I wasn't there to see the judging or see him get his ribbon, I had to work, but when I got home there was this pirate wearing his ribbon and badge. The sub must have got caught up by some pirating fisherman on the way home... ARGH!

It Wuz Waining Nuts!

We had a pretty good hail storm tonight and the kids thought it was pretty neat. It hit hard when I was at work and when I got home there were quite a few pellets on the deck and in the yard, and when I walked in the door Kaleigh came running, "It wuz waining nuts!" It was hilarious so I had to get her on video with the evidence...
