Ice Skating... Tiger Cub Style

Last night we went ice skating with the cub scouts. Last time we went ice skating, the kids were not at all interested in it, but this year they were excited and did really well. I was especially impressed with Quinn, last year he cryed and cryed about being out there, but this year he made a few rounds with the walker, and then decided he could do it with out it, and he did a great job! If he fell, he got back up and kept going, and said, "I can do it... I'll just keep trying." It was fun. He is already asking when he can go back.

Merry Christmas 2008

Merry Christmas 2008. Well the week of celebrations is over, and even though a few kiddos and Grammies were under the weather, it was a nice week. Thank you to all of our family and friends for making it an extra special Christmas! We are truly blessed to have you in our lives!

Catch Up

Ok so it is close to Christmas and I am getting way behind in lots of things. I planned to do some catch up work this week, but got the dreaded stomach bug which put me out of commision for 2 days. Today was going to be catch up on catch up day, but the kids ended up with a snow day and I got called in to work for a lady who was snowed into her house. Oh well... less time will just have to make me more efficent I guess.

Actually thanks to lots of little elves, I don't have too much shopping to do, just a few things here and there, and then wrapping. I have really been trying to catch up on preschool and school stuff, as we had our annual Stories with Santa Fundraiser last Friday and I needed to edit and print the pictures of the kids with Santa. Note how much he looks like Grandpa! Our kids didn't get to go, for fear they may recognize Kris Kringle, and announce to the whole crowd that their Dad's dad is truly Santa Claus. Man they would be mad at us for holding out that information on them!

We also had a busy last week and this week, Kaleighs party kicking it off, which was great! She and all had a blast, and it was a nice relaxing evening (as relaxing as it gets with the 6 cousins having fun). The day after that was the Sunday school program which has already been pictured in other blogs, and my camera didn't like the lighting so I won't post any further pictures of that. Tuesday was Kaleighs actual birthday along with her party at school.... again, the camera was giving me fits, I have pictures, but they aren't too good. Then my 2 sick days, before Thursday and back to the land of craziness, with Avery's school Christmas concert, a PTA meeting, and Quinns Cubscout meeting.



Avery did a fabulous job singing (and gabbing with the 4 boys around her before the show :) ), and Quinn surprised me at the Cub scout meeting by offering to tell the pack (50 or so people at least) what his den did at the last few meetings, along with being part of the color guard. Wonders never cease. :)

Gingerbread

Tonight was Gingerbread making night for Avery. Scott and I had fun going with her to help her build her masterpiece. She was very proud of it, and couldn't wait to show it to Grammy, Grampy and her cousins. It made it a little while before the little "birdies" started to pick at it. It was pretty cute watching her delegate who could eat what, Scott got some good pictures of the before, but I didn't get what was left after the picking.
It is another busy weekend around here, tomorrow is the fundraiser for the preschool that I am running, followed by birthday festivities the next day and Sunday school program on Sunday! Good thing I like being busy!

Parade fun in Town

Tonight was our annual home town Christmas parade, and it was again a snowy night for it. It didn't seem as cold though, and it made for some festive pictures, so I was happy. This year I watched with Quinn, Lucy and Bob while Kaleigh, Sophia, and Emily walked with the preschool, and Ella walked with the Girl Scouts. Scott drove the truck pulling the church float. The preschool was 10th in line, so the girls joined us as we watched the rest of the parade. It was fun to see the kids enjoying the snow, the parade, and the candy, although Kaleigh and Lucy got pretty cold hands from picking up all that candy thrown in the snow. At one point they all lined up and were watching the parade in order of age... Quinn, Ella, Avery, Sophia, Kaleigh, and Lucy. I had to get a picture of course.

Tomorrow is a busy day, Avery has her Christmas dance recital and the house is being shown in the Homes for the Holiday Historic Home tour. The house is looking pretty spiffy if I do say... it by no means is as fancy or elaborate as most of the other houses on the tour, but it aint bad for a "cheap" pre-victorian era charmer :). Dress Rehersal

Avery had her dress rehersal last night for her recital on Sunday. She was SO EXCITED to be on that big stage! She really enjoyed it and did well, even though it was just her and her friend Sophia, and their number is all of 30 seconds long. We stayed for some of the rest of the rehersal to watch, and they were dancing in the aisles trying to be like the big girls. I took some pictures, and was playing around with the flash etc, and I got some cool silhouettes, then I played with them on the editor and here are the results.

Jammie Time

Last night the kids had some fun cheesing it up in their jammies. Avery was "reading" The 5 Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice while Quinn finished up his shower and then they all climbed under the quilt to watch the Christmas specials on channel 7 before hitting the hay. In the picture of the three of them, I told them not to laugh at me... yeah they listen great... but it works to get a good picture with real smiles.
