Super Halloween

Our family of the Justice Leaguers... Is this flying? Or falling with style?

It was our first year of trick or treating staying home, and we missed Aunt Mary and Uncle Mark, but we had a nice time. We first hit the Boo-Bash which was low key, but fun, and then headed up and down our street and Main St for trick or treating. We saw lots of people we know and had fun visiting with a few of them. Afterwards we headed to Auntie Em's and Uncle Bobs for a bon-fire and some snacks from Grammy and Grampy. It was a Super Terrific night, full of Super Fun! And they didn't even get into too much of their candy!

Hard at Work for Halloween

The carvers were hard at work tonight, working on their masterpieces. They all did their own this year for the most part... cleaning, scooping, drawing and cutting (the girls still needed a little help with the cutting, but Quinn mastered it thanks to those handy dandy pumpkin cutters). Scott got home early tonight which was a nice treat, and he has tomorrow off so he can partake in the Halloween festivities and there are alot of them, parties at 2 schools, 2 parades, one boo-bash, trick or treating and bon-fire at Auntie Ems...we're missing out on Aunt Mary's this year, we just couldn't fit it in. If being overbooked scares you this would be a truly creepy Halloween for sure... the way I look at it, I got a reprieve in Scott being home, now I'm only over booked by 1-1/2 :) Anyway, we had a fun time tonight and the kids (all four of them) did too!

Kaleigh got her costume photo shoot today because she had her party at school this afternoon. Wonderwoman she was... hilarious running from place to place on their scavenger hunt with her short short skirt.

Dancing with the Stars

Avery had her Costume Dance party tonight at dance class, and they got to perform their Halloween dance they have been working on for us. The teachers told Quinn and Kaleigh that they could join in if they wanted to, and as you can see Kaleigh was all over that... Quinn not so much. I think we will have to get Kaleigh enrolled soon. Avery just loves it and is looking forward to her Christmas Recital soon, even though there are only two other girls in her class (one was absent tonight), they should be pretty cute.

Week Update

I desparately need to do an update... we have been very busy, from last Sunday on...

Sunday: We celebrated Grampys birthday

Tuesday: Kaleigh had a visit from the Firefighters at her school

Thursday: Quinn had a Field Trip to Benny's Bakery:

And... got his Bobcat Badge at Cubscouts, while Avery got to go to a hockey game with Daddy (unfortunately I didn't get a chance to take a picture of that)

Friday: Scott and I had a dinner out and watched Indiana Jones thanks to Mom and Dad watching the kids.

Saturday: I worked, and when I got home we worked on preparing the van for Trunk or Treat at church on Sunday... the kids wanted to do an underwater theme, so we did... it was a little cold, but they had fun. The picture I took of it came out blurry... :(

Sunday: We went to church and the pumpkin patch party, where the kids had fun trunk or treating, bouncing, eating etc.

Whew I did it... it wasn't the most descriptive post, but hey it's done! :)

On to another week!

Orchard Outing

Kaleigh had her first preschool field trip yesterday, and it was a beautiful day for it. We went to Albers Orchard, the kids got to see the 100+ year old cider press, have a hayride through the orchards, visit with some bunnies and a jealous donkey, play in the straw maze and have a snack of cider and donuts. It was a good time, and a beautiful setting... the rolling hills on Bethel Church Rd. heading towards Manchester. On the way home, we saw a deer in the woods, and since there is no one around we stopped to take his picture, and he obliged.

Weekend Adventures

It was another great weekend for the McClellands, and the weather held up great for us. Friday night we headed to dinner with Grandpa and Grandma and Tom, as they were in town for Grandparents Day for Avery and a hockey game with Scott. After dinner the kids and I went to see the Chihuahua movie. It was cute, the kids really liked it and had a good time sitting in their "own" row. They sat in the row in front of me and they thought they were pretty cool. Saturday Quinn, Scott and Tom went to the Fall Color Hike in Chelsea with the Cub Scouts. They had a great time, and the girls got to stay with Auntie Em until I got done with work. After dinner, the boys headed out to another hockey game (Quinn was very excited) and the girls and I had a girls night with a trip to Target and a big lip gloss purchase.
Yesterday after church we headed to T town for the Appleumpkin festival. We had a nice lunch at the Cowboy Grille, then played some games at Aunt Mary's carnival, followed by a visit with Aunt Mary and Uncle Mark. On the way home we stopped to take some pictures at the pumpkin patch, and got a hayride too... It was a nice afternoon, and a nice weekend.
Today I spent cleaning and organizing toys... yikes, it was crazy! WAY to many toys in this house!!! I have come to the conclusion that we need either to throw some stuff out or get another room to put them in. About half way through I was beginning to think it would never end and that I would be buried in chaos forever. While I was cleaning the multitudes of toys, the kids were just as happy to play with two cardboard boxes and 3 stuffed animals... I think that they really would be just as happy to have a couple more boxes, some tape and their animals.
Ok, Really I'm done now... and Emily thought her post was long...yeah sure.

Ghost Making

Last night the kids decided that they wanted to decorate the house for Halloween. Avery had made some paper ghosts and taped them to crayons earlier in the day, and they thought they ought to take the decorating outside. I told them, why not... and they were busy for about an hour outside making, cutting out, and taping up ghosts all over the front porch. It looked a bit like we got tee pee'd this morning out there, but they were proud of their decorations and it won't be too difficult to clean up after it rains. When I look at these pictures, it looks like the little goblins that actually live in the house have done better work smudging up the front door.

Cherry Pie, Heros, and Super Heros

The weekend started off by Kaleigh and I deciding that we would make cherry pie and a turkey dinner for Friday night, she really did help and had a good time doing it. Our plans for a big turkey feast were slightly changed because Scott had to stay at work late and didn't get home until 9:30, that 1 and a half hour drive is a real bummer when you have to stay late, but the kids and I made good work of the meal anyway, and Scott will eat it as leftovers he doesn't care. Yesterday the kids and Scott did some errands and hit a few garage sales, while I worked, and then it was football on TV and playing with the new old toys from the garage sale. Pretty low key.

Today after church and lunch we headed to Target to look for Halloween costumes before they get completely picked over (which they already were). Avery had already decided that she wanted to be Super Girl like Ella (who got her costume last week), and I was really pushing hard for Quinn to be Superman. He really wasn't interested in it until last night when he and Scott watched Ironman... Previously he had wanted to be a puppy like Spots, but after the movie he decided he wanted to be Ironman, and after being at Target and realizing they didn't have an Ironman costume and seeing the Superman one he said he changed his mind. So off we went with Supergirl and Superman. Kaleigh is still holding out to be a turtle, although when the kids tried on their costumes, she said she wanted to be a super hero too. We'll see what happens with that.

After Target we stopped at the Pittsfield Twp. Fire Dept. Open House, and had some fun spraying the hoses, riding in the trucks and asking the firemen questions. Quinn was really interested to know lots of details on stuff and he surprised us by asking alot of questions like, "how do you find the fire in the house?" The fireman was quite impressed and said usually the kids just ask about what is on the truck and what all the equipment is. Kaleighs favorite part was the cider and donuts, and between church this morning and the open house ate her fair share. They all had fun gathering free brochures, hats and stickers, and when they got home promptly taped them all into their play fire truck and all over their clothes, saying... look mom at all of our badges! It was a fun weekend, Happy Birthday to GG a little late, I still owe you two cards... Have a good week everyone!

Walk A Thon

Today was the Walk-a-Thon Fundraiser at Quinn's school. Thanks to Emily (taking Avery and Kaleigh to school) I was able to be there all day to help out. It was alot of fun, the kids started out walking around the track, with volunteers telling them how many laps they had walked, and then the volunteers changed things up and had them skip, hop, walk backwards etc. etc. Each class (4th grade, 3rd grade etc.) came out during their "specials" time so each class ended up walking about 35 laps or so. PAWS from the Detroit Tigers made special appearances, and one of the prizes for the kids was to have their picture taken with him that they will get in a frame. This was my job, with one or two other moms, and we had a blast... PAWs was definitely happy that it was a cool day, but he (she) did a great job, and the kids just loved it. The teachers had a great time too, even though they weren't required to be there, most of them did at least one lap or two and some even stayed the whole time with their classes. Even though it was a little cool outside, the rain held off and it was a big sucess... THANK YOU so much to all of you who helped Quinn support his school!!!
