Star Sunglasses and Sting

I have been meaning to post Kaleigh's first day of school pictures, but Scott transfered all of my pictures up until a few days ago into our external hard drive, and it is down in the man cave, and up until now I have been to lazy to go and retrieve it. Pretty bad huh? Anyway... she had a great time on her first few days of school, but got a bit of a cold and had to stay home one day already. This did not make her happy, she loves to go and asks me everyday if it is her day to go to school. Anyway, I will post a picture of her in her navy blue dress with her backpack and star sunglasses as soon as I get the energy to go and get that hard drive from the basement.

The first few weeks of school have been going great. I have been busy running from class to class, working with PTA stuff, the kids going to WeB and Cub/Girl Scouts, room parent stuff, and the usual home chores. We have the big walk-a-thon fundraiser and picture day coming up this week, and today we had the harvest festival where the PTA sold pretzels and introduced the official mascot to town. I also got to be a judge for the juried art fair which was fun. It is busy, busy, busy, as usual, but I like it that way most of the time. It's nice to be a part of such a great community.
Have a good week everyone!!

First Day of First and Second Grade

Well the first day of school has come and gone, the kids had a good time, and said they are ready to go back, so that's good. Spencer was here first thing this morning because his mom had class at 7:30. Quinn was excited that his best buddy is going to be coming over before school on a regular basis, and it helped him get up early for school the first day without complaint. The second graders had fun meeting all of their old friends when waiting to get into the school. The boys even ran into Ella getting off the bus so we had to have a picture.

Avery was very excited for her first day of first grade and had no problem at all walking in to class and getting started. Kaleigh was trying to unpack her backpack and put away her lunch for her in the classroom before we got a chance to head out the door... hopefully she'll be that ready for her first day! Kaleigh has her first day of 4's preschool tomorrow for a mini class. She was anxious for the other two to get home this afternoon though, she kept asking me,"when was it time to go get them? Can we go now?" When it finally was time to pick them up we got soaked, it looked like the rain had stopped so I didn't take the umbrella to the pick up, but as we were walking back to the van it let loose and we all got soaked. It was memorable to say the least, and the kids didn't mind too much. Scott had his first day of school experience today as well, as he was hired as a teacher assistant sub in a Kindergarten class in Ann Arbor for a week.

It was a good first day, on to the second!

Girls Night In

Quinn is spending the night at Grammy and Grampys, having fun building helicopters and who knows what in Grampy's shop. Scott had to work for a bit this evening at his "cleaning" job, so it was girls night in around these parts.
We had lots of fun. We made pancakes and bacon for dinner, got our jammies on and got out the Muffy Bears. The girls have both been getting Muffy Bears and accessories from Aunt Mary for their birthdays and Christmas since they have been born. We have played with them a little here and there, but they have been mostly decoration, since the girls were a little to young to play with them and not ruin them. Tonight since it was girls night though, we decided to get them out and get them dressed for school (they have outfits for all seasons). You would have thought it was Christmas, Avery and Kaleigh were having so much fun checking out all of the "new" things in the case. The case was part of the fun too... their own "closet" full of treasures. That case was made by my Grandpa when I was a kid... it was filled at the time with all kinds of Barbie clothes that GG made for me.
It was a fun girls night in! Thanks to all!

Open House

Wow, this has been a really long break for me not blogging... over a month! Yikes. My camera has not been getting much of a workout lately, not for any particular reason either, except for maybe summer laziness.
Well we had Open House at school for Avery and Quinn tonight, so I had to dust off the lens and start taking some pictures. I can't believe that I will have a first and second grader this year! I like to think that I will have some time to myself, especially when Kaleigh is at preschool 3 days a week, but I'm sure it won't happen too often. I like to volunteer so I'll most likely end up in someones classroom at least part of that time, which is actually fine by me.
The kids are pretty excited to start back to school, although it doesn't look much like it in these pictures... Quinn was anxious to get to the book fair and didn't want me taking too many pictures, and Avery although she is excited, I think she may be just a little nervous.
Her classroom is down the other hall from Quinn's and we've spent alot of time helping in his room, so she is more familiar with that side of the building, that and she doesn't have any good friends in her class that she knows... not yet anyway. I'm sure she'll have lots of friends after the first few days of school. Quinn is blessed to have the same two teachers and the same classmates and friends that he had last year, as his class stayed together for both 1st and 2nd grade. His teachers are great, and I'm hoping Avery's is as well... I've heard she's wonderful. I was only able to get a picture of Quinn with one of his teachers, his other teacher had to have surgery this summer and had some complications and won't be back until (hopefully) the first week of school. Pray for a speedy recovery for her, she was pretty sad that she couldn't be there tonight!
We're all looking forward to the new routine, hopefully everyone will adjust to it with flying colors!
Have a great Labor Day Weekend Everyone! I will try to keep the camera dusted and post more often!
