A Day Out

Thanks to Emily, Quinn and I had a day out today. And I must say it was desparately needed, as Scott has been working 15+ hour days this week. A big thank you to Mom for helping out last night too! I was beginning to feel like I was being ganged up on by 3 kids 3 and under.
Anyway, Quinn and I, along with a few of his friends from school and their moms went to the Day Out with Thomas at a certain villiage around here. It was a lot of fun! They got to ride the train around the villiage pulled by a life sized Thomas the Tank Engine. They also got to meet Sir Topham Hat and see the sights of the villiage. It was a great time, and beautiful weather.

Gimme a Break

A weekend full of fun and breaks for me. Saturday was a break from the kids for Sam and Kristies shower, it was a lot of fun and great food! They got so many nice things and we all really liked Sams commentary. This is definitely a fun time for them... enjoy!

After that I got a price break on a bunch of stuff for the bathroom on a shopping trip with my friend Kim. A new shower curtain, a rug and a few new towels spiced up a bathroom that needs some serious help. We went to see the Pink Panther at the dollar show after that, so I guess that counts as two price breaks. Not a bad show for $1.50, I don't think I'd have liked it as much for $9.50, but it was a night away from the kids. I'll take it!
Today was a break from usual because we had church in the Family Life Center and Pastor Klaus, from the Lutheran Hour gave the sermon, it was very good...what I got to hear of it anyway, between taking the girls to the nursery and looking for Grandpa (long story, but he ended up being in the back and neither Bob nor I could seem to figure that out for about 10 minutes.) But anyway, it is supposed to be posted on the churches website soon, so if you want to check it out look there.

And finally there was a break in the clouds on the way home from visiting Grammy and Grampy tonight, so I took a picture.

Go Fly a Kite

Go fly a kite. I am wondering where that expression came from, if I had time I might Google it to try and find out, as it is, I feel like I am constantly running behind this week, and I don't even have much going this week. Oh well. Yesterday the kids and I went to Grammy and Grampys to try out Quinns new kite he got from Grandpa for Easter. It was a great day for kite flying, and they all had a great time trying it out. Even Kaleigh had a turn at flying it, and did surprisingly well for a 1 year old. I unfortunately forgot my camera, otherwise there would have been a picture.
Well today is shaping up to be a nice one too it looks like, enjoy!

Happy Easter 2006

He is Risen!
Happy Easter! Hope you all had a Spirit filled day.
Here are some pictures of our celebrations.

The Ladies all dressed up and Quinn on the way home from Grandpa and Grandmas, Grandma made all the kids chocolates, he was holding his up to the window and the setting sun saying, "Jesus died on the cross!"

The Egg Hunt at Grandpa and Grandmas, everyone had a great time and got lots of good stuff! Between both sides of the family, they have a lot of candy... I need to stay away from it!

Quinn in his new jammies that he got from Grammy and Grampy... He had to put them on right away...over his clothes...what a look!

A Good Friday

The whole family woke up this morning to the roar (and I do mean roar... it actually shook the house) of thunder. I thought it was a very fitting way to wake up on Good Friday. It immediately made me think of what the sky must have sounded like on the first Good Friday. The weather for the rest of the day on the other hand kind of reminded me of what is to come on Sunday, beautiful!
We had a nice time at the crosswalk at church, we walked and sang through the parking lot, out the yard in the back and through the woods to the creek. It was very nice and the kids were SO much better at it this year. Quinn and Ella held hands just about the entire way there, and Avery walked holding either Grammys or my hand. This is better, even when Quinn tried to throw sticks in the stream, than last year, because last year, Q and E were all over the place and we had to push the double strollers through the grass with Avery and Kaleigh and Sophia in them. Progress. I was going to take a picture of the cross that is erected in the woods, but I didn't get to it. Maybe tomorrow I will go and do it and post it.
Hope you all have a blessed and beautiful Easter! and to quote Dad and Andy... it's Friday... but Sunday's a comin'!

Float the Boat

Quinn and Grammy had a lot of fun floating various types of boats down the ditch in front of Grammy and Grampys house last night, so today all he keeps saying is, "did it stop raining? I want to go float my boat." The way the parking lot looks behind our house I think you could probably float a yacht (the drain is clogged so the water stands for awhile when it has rained). I took a few pictures of Grammy and Quinns paper boats going down the stream, but they are on the internal memory of my camera and I cannot locate the cord I need to get them off of there at the moment, when I do I will post the picture. Have a nice day everyone, it's raining, but at least it's warm! We're making progress!
P.S. Here's a picture, Quinn is saying, "Oh no it's stuck!" The girls also had fun riding the tractor with Grampy... that's them in the background.

One to Rent

The Prize Winner of Defiance Ohio. I watched this movie the other night and thought it was great! It's about a mom in the 50's who raised 10 kids (I think it was 10- maybe 12) and won over 25 different contests. It was really interesting to see how most of the contests she won were things they desparately needed at the time. She never worried (at least until the last scene) about what was going to happen or how they were going to make it, they always did though. A really good show, also a true story.

The Blues

A Saturday full of blues. Not the bad kind (well kind of--keep reading) or the musical kind, but the color. Blue Easter Eggs that Quinn won't put down, from the Lunch with the Easter Bunny today. Blue sky- went to the park, which is where the picture of Quinn was taken, not the greatest picture, but I couldn't get over how blue the sky was. It was amazing! And black and blue foot- just got off the phone, and Annette tells me she had her foot run over by a SUV at the mall this evening. Nothing broken she doesn't think, but swollen pretty bad- Keep her in your prayers!

Star Trek Meets its Match

Scotts new toy, well I guess that depends on how you look at it. Now work can chase him all over the planet. I guess he wouldn't be all over the planet if it wasn't for work, Mexico next week, India again the second week in May, so apparently he needs it. Now he and Mike are both trekky geeks...just kidding Mike... Scott already was though.

Anybody want to be the Bunny?

As the fundraising chair for the kids preschool I am in charge of the Lunch with the Easter Bunny Fundraiser this Saturday. I have pretty much everything done, except for a few last minute details like stuffing and boiling eggs (stuffing- plastic, boiling-real...hopefully I won't get that mixed up... that would be bad right? :)) We are having an egg hunt, lunch, an egg decorating table, and cake walk. Hopefully the weather will hold out. Last year we talked Scott into wearing the costume... This year no luck with that, so I guess it's going to be me... at least I don't have to talk, and I just have to stick it out through the lunch portion of the event. That means Scott has to be the kid wrangler for the day, that really isn't a bad deal.

Timing

Scott got an email today that informed us that on Wednesday of this week, at two minutes and three seconds after 1:00 in the morning, the time and date will be:
01:02:03 04/05/06 (at least from an American perspective).

This won't happen again for 100 years.
Kind of cool.

Talking Tractors, Pork, and Farming

Today was a fun Saturday, except for having to get up early...I wish the kids knew it was the weekend...oh well. We cleaned the house, ran errands, and made a stop at the Tractor Supply Store (they had antique tractors out on display, free and fun entertainment if you're Quinn and Avery). After that we fired up the grill that GG and GGpa were kind enough to give us when they moved, it works great by the way, and had Opa, Jane, Tom, Mom and Dad over for porkchops. Duncan was sent the bones, I'm sure he'll enjoy them, as long as it doesn't storm again tonight.
The kids had fun riding their bikes in the parking lot again, and Opa and Jane brought them lots of goodies. I will have a hard time staying away from them myself (Cadbury eggs, rice krispie treats etc.) Quinn and Avery were both excited to have company over, although they tend to get a bit shy... wonder where they got that from?
The picture is Opa and Quinn having a discussion about the farm puzzle they were putting together. Quinn sure does get a kick out of the fact that Opa knows so much about farming.
